Teran and truffle festival

When autumn tones dominate Istria, its landscapes are covered in hundreds of shades of yellow, orange and red. From the top of the hill, Motovun, a medieval town with a view of the Motovun Forest, the Mirna River and its stunning valley, is majestically watching this autumnal colorfulness.

It hosts a two-day exhibition and tastings of Teran wine and truffles in October. Teran is an old Istrian variety that dominated the Istrian peninsula about a hundred years ago, and was first mentioned more than 600 years ago. The indigenous Istrian wine, due to its strong and robust taste, goes best with prosciutto, cheese and dishes based on meat and game, and with its ruby red color it seems to blend in with the autumn colors of Istria.

In addition to teran, the rightful star of the festival is the truffle, an underground Istrian treasure without which today's gourmet cuisine would be unimaginable.

The festival gathers Istrian winemakers and teran producers in one place, who want to give it the importance it deserves, so the gastronomic experience is completed with truffle dishes, of course, with an emphasis on those that go best with teran.
