Istria 100 by UTMB®
Numerous athletes and recreationists will find enough reasons to visit Istria even in the winter months, but the first days of spring bring a new edition of the ultratrail race Istria 100 by UTMB.
Istria 100 by UTMB is an ultratrail race that takes place in the area of Istria from Labin (168 km), Buzet (110 km and 69 km), Motovun (42 km) and Grožnjan (21 km) all the way to Umag, which is why it is considered one one of the biggest and most difficult races of this kind in Croatia. It brings together more than 2,000 competitors from about 60 countries around the world.
It passes through the Istrian hiking trails over the numerous peaks of Učka and Ćićarija and the cores of medieval towns in the interior of Istria and ends on the western part of the peninsula in Umag. The trails include difficult and technically demanding terrain, some coasteering, old medieval towns, deep forests, city centers, muddy valleys, rivers and streams, canyons and clearings, and numerous panoramas.
The race is part of the UTMB World Series, a world trail cup that brings together 35 of the best races in the world. It was the UTMB World Series that chose the Istria 100 by UTMB among the 26,000 trail races held around the world and included the race in the elite group.
Lenghts:
RED 168 km longest and most demanding race starting from Labin, 14.04.2023. at 17.00 hours
BLUE 110 km slightly shorter trail starts from Buzet, 15.04.2023. at 07.00 hours
GREEN 69 km trail of "medium" length starting from Buzet, 15.04.2023. at 09.00 hours
YELLOW 42 km shorter trail for those looking for more experience starting from Motovun, 15.04.2023. at 12:00 p.m
WHITE 21 km intended for beginners in trail running starts from Grožnjan, April 16, 2023. at 10:00 a.m
The event, in addition to 5 races, also includes a sports fair that takes place in the Marije and Lina sports hall on April 13 and 14, 2023. The fair is intended for everyone and entry is free.
The finish line of all races is in Umag, on the main city square, and competitors are expected from Saturday morning until Sunday at 3 pm, when they will continuously enter the finish line.
The official announcement of the best will be on Sunday, April 16, 2023. at 1:00 p.m. on the main town square in Umag.
