Chestnut

Roasted, boiled, in savory and sweet dishes, in cakes and even in ice cream, chestnuts are many people's favorite autumn fruit. The Oprtal Chestnut Festival, the first and only event of its kind in Istria, is dedicated to them.

The event takes place in four different locations that are interconnected by the theme of chestnuts and the richness of autumn fruits. Roasted chestnuts, hunting and mushroom cauldron, and many fine dishes and desserts based on chestnuts are prepared for all gourmets; plays, creative workshops and animators entertain the youngest; live music accompanies lovers of cheerful rhythms, and educational exhibitions can be viewed by those who are curious.

In October, come to Oprtalj to breathe some fresh air and spend a pleasant autumn day with a portion of roasted chestnuts and a glass of young wine.
